Guidelines

Purpose:

Allow student groups and campus departments an additional means of promoting campus activities in the student center with video and static capabilities.

Displays:
One plasma in the Student Center Post Office Corridor will generally present video-based promotions in full-screen mode (with audio if necessary). If promotions are not necessary - the second plasma will run typical cable programming.

Content:
Campus organizations and departments may submit one slide per event for the Static Loop or up to 30 seconds of video. The Student Center reserves the right to add promotional content harvested from campus calendars and to include other content purely for entertainment value.

Submission:
Flyers may be submitted through e-mail, just click on submit. Flyers that are formated in landscape orientation will display best. Formats that are accepted for the static loop are Power Point, PDF, Word, jpg, gif, and bmp. Video content will need to be submitted on tape, CD, or data DVD. For best results, please submit in file format. The normal formats are usually avi, mov, and mpeg. Promotions must be submitted at least one week prior to the posting date for inclusion in either loop and will be displayed for up to two weeks. Bring media to the 3rd floor Administrative Office of the Student Center. Include date promotion needs to start, name of sponsoring group, and contact name, email address and phone number.

Video Editing:
Video can be submitted in edited form as long as there is a continuous credit or caption stating the date/time/location/sponsor for the event. Media should be CD (Quicktime format), mini DV tape, or VHS tape. Otherwise, minor video editing may be accomplished in coordination with the SC Computer Support Specialist. A nominal fee will be incurred for editing time.

Audio:
Generally, the plasma will be kept at a low volume using captioning where possible.

Charges:
No charges for student organizations. Campus Departments: $10 per week or partial week for Static Content; $25 per week or partial week for Motion Content. Video editing charges (if required): $25

Limitations:
Promotions for an event will run for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 2 weeks. The plasma promotions are intended for campus activities, but student organizations may promote the mission of their group or encourage membership for up to two weeks per semester (on a space available basis). All promotions will be posted on Tuesday and will be displayed until Monday.
